Suns give Dillon Brooks 3-year, $73M extension

NBA antagonist Dillon Brooks signed a three-year, $73 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Brooks told the Arizona Republic, "Villain is here to stay. Championship is all on my mind."

The new pact links Brooks to the Suns through the 2029-30 season.

The 30-year-old forward posted a career-high average of 20.2 points per game in 2025-26, his first season after Phoenix acquired him in the deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.

Brooks added 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steal per contest in 56 games (all starts) for the Suns. He averaged 26 points and six rebounds as Phoenix was swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a four-game first-round playoff series.

Noted for his defense and for annoying opponents on the court, Brooks has been suspended six times in his NBA career, according to Basketball-Reference.com.

A second-round draft pick of the Grizzlies in 2017, Brooks played six seasons in Memphis before he was traded to Houston in July 2023. He spent two seasons with the Rockets.

In 548 NBA games (521 starts), Brooks has averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals.
